What
time do the gates open?
Usually two hours before the first race.
What
time is the last race?
It depends when the first race is, but afternoon meetings
usually have the last race at about 5pm and evening meetings
at about 9pm.
How
many races will there be and how many runners?
There are usually six races with half an hour gaps between
each race. Sometimes seventh or eighth races will occur.
The runners
will be known from 11am the day before racing. BBC Ceefax
or Channel 4 Teletext list all the runners and riders, as
does the Racing Post's website from about 12 noon.
Are
there any buses to and from the racecourse?
Yes, there is a complimentary service from Salisbury Railway
Station & Bus Station - please call the office for details
and times of the bus.
Is
car parking free?
Yes, but always allow plenty of time for your journey. The
weekend meetings in particular can be very busy, and therefore,
access in and out of the course can take more time than usual.
What
payment methods do you accept for entry on the day?
Cash or cheques (which must be backed up with a cheque guarantee
card)
Are there any discounts for senior citizens?
No, however, tickets booked seven days in advance by any racegoer, mean that all three enclosures can be accessed at an even more affordable price.
Can
we bring our own food into the enclosures?
Only into the Course enclosure. Picnics are permitted in this
enclosure, however, this is not to include own alcohol.
Are there cashpoint facilities at the racecourse?
Yes, there is a cash machine outside the office available for Members and Tattersalls Enclosure racegoers only. Also, betting vouchers can be purchased from the tote who accept most major credit / debit cards.
Are
dogs allowed?
No, only Guide Dogs.
Do
I have to be a Member to use the Members' Enclosure?
No (see the Members'
Enclosure page).
Is
there a dress code?
Yes, particularly in Members'
Enclosure.
Where
is a good meeting place?
For either Members' or Tattersalls racegoers, we suggest near
the Club Office, which is a small brick building next to the
Annual Members car park. For Course enclosure, we suggest
by the Course Enclosure entrance, by the Public car park.
What
disabled facilities are there?
There
are disabled viewing areas and disabled toilets in all 3 enclosures..
How
much is a minimum bet?
Some bookmakers will accept £2 win or £2 each way (£4). The
Tote will also accept £2 win or £2 each way (£4)
I
do not know much about racing or having a bet - are there
people on hand to help?
Yes, the stewards on duty at the racecourse will all help
as best they can. Alternatively, the staff in the Racecourse
Office will be delighted to assist you with any enquiries,
so that you may make the most of your day.
Both the
Tote staff and the bookmakers in the betting ring will assist
you, if you are not familiar with placing a bet.
If
I have a problem on the day what should I do?
Please visit the Racecourse Office located near the Parade
Ring, where the staff will be happy to assist you.
