Salisbury Racecourse is Flat Racing and therefore does not involve any jumps.
- Choose your enclosure –The range of facilities available and the areas that can be accessed vary according to each enclosure and that is reflected in the enclosure price. Each enclosure will have guaranteed race viewing; betting facilities with both the tote and bookmakers; nearby car parking; racecard selling points; bars and catering outlets
- Buy a racecard at the course or take a newspaper or so you know what races are scheduled and the form for each horse running
- The parade ring is where the horses are led around prior to the race in front of the public. Owners and Trainers gather in the centre to greet the Jockeys and the public can see how they are conditioned prior to the race.
- There is a ‘Smart Casual’ dress code but only for racegoers in the Bibury Enclosure (Smart jeans only – no ripped, torn or frayed denim. No shorts, sportswear or trainers. Collared shirts and trousers for gentlemen, but ties are not essential).
Grandstand & Paddock and the Course Enclosures are a little more relaxed and we would advise that you dress according to the weather as you may spend long periods of time outside.
- Bets can be placed in a number of ways for a minimum of £2. The most popular bet is for a win or each way.
A win - your horse has to win for you to collect.
An each way bet - £2 each way costs £4 and so on, your horse needs to finish in the placings, i.e. 1st, 2nd or 3rd, or 4th in some races for you to win.
Enjoy your day at the Races!!
