ANOTHER PRESTIGIOUS DAY AT SALISBURY APPROACHES

Posted August 27th, 2004

Salisbury's fourth Listed Race of the 2004 season is the highlight at its next meeting on Thursday 2nd September. The EBF/Irish Thoroughbred Marketing 'Dick Poole' Fillies Stakes is the £32,500 highlight of the seven race card. The race was won last year by the John Gosden trained Nyramba who has subsequently been placed in Group company as a three year old.

The 'Dick Poole' is principally supported by the £25,000 added EBF Lochsong Fillies Handicap won last year by three times course winner Music Maid. Other winners last year were Punctilious (placed in the Vodafone Oaks) in the 7 furlong Novice Stakes, this year jointly sponsored by the EBF and Salisbury's local stud, Whitsbury Manor. Silk Fan won the EBF Quidhampton Fillies Maiden and Distinction won the 1m 6f Conditions Stakes. The latter mentioned is reportedly heading for a crack at the Melbourne Cup.

In all, over £110,000 in prize money will be on offer on Salisbury for Thursday's race meeting.
