THE
BIGGEST CROWD FOR SIX YEARS went to Salisbury Races on Sunday
1st May
Posted
May 4th 2005
With just
short of 9,000 adults and an estimated 1,200 children, the
crowd was the biggest since the same May meeting in 1999.
Clerk
of the Course, Jeremy Martin, was very pleased with the bumper
day - 'It really was a terrific crowd, and we had a great
atmosphere as usual. The weather played a big part, as it
really was a lovely day'.
The highlight
of the day was the £20,000 'betfair.com Handicap Stakes' which
was screened live on Channel 4 Racing. The race proved to
be a dead-heat between Goodricke (11-1) and Resplendent Glory
(3-1JF), the first dead-heat Salisbury has had for over 3
years.
Salisbury
has another Family Fun Day on Sunday 12th June.
