TWO DERBY WINNERS AT SALISBURY LAST YEAR

Dylan Thomas who won Sunday’s Budweiser Irish Derby at The Curragh had been a close second at Salisbury in the Group 3 ‘Autumn Stakes’ last October. His victory followed his close up third place in Epsom’s Vodafone Derby 3 weeks ago. The winner of that great race, Sir Percy, had won at Salisbury in June of last year. Clerk of the Course, Jeremy Martin said: “Never have we seen two Derby winners previously race at Salisbury as 2 year olds, in the same year. Sir Percy’s win was very special and Dylan Thomas winning the Irish equivalent was the icing on the cake for us, and proves that you can see the finest racehorses at Salisbury before they go onto greater things”.
